Meet Dr. Rosaura “Rosy” Bagolie

Assemblywoman Dr. Rosaura “Rosy” Bagolie (D – Essex, Passaic) proudly represents New Jersey Legislative District 27 and sits on the Financial Institutions & Insurance and Education Committees. She brings a unique perspective to the legislative table as a Jewish-Latina immigrant whose family emigrated from the Dominican Republic.
A lifelong teacher and school administrator who truly believes in the transformative power of education, Dr. Bagolie has risen to the top of her profession to serve as Principal, Superintendent, and Chief School Administrator of the East Newark School District.
Prior to being sworn in as Assemblywoman, Rosy sat as Councilwoman in Livingston Township, serving on the Township Planning Board, the Committee for Diversity and Inclusion (LCDI), the Advisory Committee for Disabilities (LACD), Council Liaison for Senior, Youth, and Leisure Services, as well as the Emergency Planning Committee.
Rosy attended Seton Hall University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences, earning her Masters in Elementary Education and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, also at Seton Hall. She then obtained a second Masters Degree in Special Education at Rutgers University. Rosy is also a Certified Business Administrator.
A resident of Livingston and member of Temple B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, her husband, Ricky, is an attorney, and together they are blessed with three remarkable sons.
